Admissions
Emerald Academy is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive educational environment that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and Christian values. The academy believes that every child has unique potential and aims to create a supportive community where students can explore their interests, develop their skills, and grow in their faith. It's important to note that Emerald Academy offers two distinct programs, each with its own application process:

-
Full-time Homeschooling Program: This program offers a complete homeschooling curriculum aligned with Botswana national standards and Cambridge IGCSE and O’Level curriculum.

-
Part-time Tutoring and Supplementing Programs: These programs provide support for students in specific subjects, a "Breakthrough" program for English, Setswana, and/or Mathematics, and supplementing for rewriting exams.

Additional Requirements & Evaluation
Emerald Academy assesses all applicants to ensure they are a good fit for the community. The following requirements and evaluations are standard across both programs:
-
Language Proficiency: As the primary language of instruction is English, applicants must demonstrate proficiency through written and oral tests and an evaluation of their prior schooling in English.
-
Academic Evaluation: Admission to primary and lower secondary levels requires successful completion of the previous grade level. For higher secondary admission, students need relevant qualifications like JCE or equivalent, with a minimum grade of D in core subjects. Additional assessments may include entrance exams in English, Mathematics, and Sciences, along with a review of academic records and recommendations from previous schools.
-
Alignment with Christian Ethos: Applicants must demonstrate behavior and values consistent with Emerald Academy’s Christian ethos, including respect, integrity, and engagement with community values. This will be assessed through interviews with the student and discussions with parents or guardians. Recommendation letters from previous schools may be required to evaluate the applicant’s conduct and character.

Decision and Enrollment
After submitting the application and completing all assessments and interviews, admission decisions are typically communicated within three working days. Once a student is accepted, parents or guardians must sign a contract agreeing to the school's rules and policies and complete enrollment by settling any outstanding fees.
